Welcome to GIS Users of Northern Ohio (GUONO), an inclusive community that fosters geographic data sharing, advocates for data standardization, and builds a network to exchange technical insights among GIS enthusiasts. Our mission is to create a platform for open discussions on GIS matters and promote direct communication among GIS users of varying expertise levels across public, private, non-profit, and educational sectors.
As one of the nation's longest-standing geospatial user groups, GIS Users of Northern Ohio have been convening since the early 1990s. Our in-person meetings occur at the Canalway Center in the Cleveland Metroparks' Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, starting at 1:00 with coffee, snacks, and networking. Presentations commence at 1:30, and to accommodate diverse schedules, we rotate the day of the week for our meetings.
We also offer virtual meetings starting at 1:30.
Our enduring success is attributed, in part, to our informal structure. No dues, minutes, or reservations are necessary—simply show up, sign in, and engage in learning!
